CAN THE UNITED STATES BE STOPPED?

In 2002, as the U.S. government was preparing to attack Iraq, one call (among many) was for actions: diplomatic, juridical, military and economic actions  to force the U.S. to abandon its drive for global domination.Despite clear and overwhelming opposition by the world’s peoples to the threatened attack, the national governments and their international organizations (UN, OPEC, Arab League, etc) were unwilling and/or unable to act forcefully against the United States. Because of their functional inability to prevent or halt the U.S. assault, and their continued ineffectiveness, It makes me wonder, can anybody, organization, or country have the capability of stopping the US in their actions?

I don’t neccesarilly mean military power, but overall US domination. They are number 1 in sports, entertainment, technology, marketing, diplomacy and military capabilities. They even have the power to punish other nations! No matter what you think, you have to praise them for being so capable and succesful, because they WORKED for it. Right now, the US can basically do anything, from waging a war to financially sanctiontion a country. Can she be stopped? What can be done to stop this American super-domination?

  1. It has already happened, after the end of this financial stuff America will no longer be the super power… Money holds the power, and the power has already shifted, we just haven’t got our heads around the shift yet…

  2. I think much more terrosim action can help to stop them. In an others hand they human empire history is always the same:they are built they rich their maturity and they fall USA will follow the same schema. More over capitalism itself is carrying germs for it own destruction the actual economic crises is not the first, from the 1929’s crises to the one in 1982 and 1990 and the actuel. It’s getting bigger!! so if they don’t change completly the way they are rulling not only economical policy but also political policy in a near futur their own mistake will stop them.

  3. I believe that American domination can not be stopped although a lot of country trying to do so because America already build their dominance since long time before. Even now, when America faced financial problem but they still dominance the world.

  4. Eric let me just put it in this way. Imagine the land which got the (i) potential of cultivating variety of plants, (ii) sound management controlling system on the education and standards of living, (iii) most Nobel winners of the world, (iv) given freedom to crowd to speak out, (v) sufficient cash as incentives for research and development, (vi) sound liberalized market and so on and so forth. Don’t you think these are not enough to induce any body to migrate and stay there? Don’t you thing these are not enough for the brains to expatriate “brain drain” to the States? Do you think is that easy for the Micro-biologist to stop “Aids” when he has already affected by its virus? So forget it, in yours and my generation we will not see that miracle!!!!

  5. As much as i hate America very much , they is doubt that they are the best in what they do but the tables has changed , America has a lot of problems to dealt with and a lot of countries are against them , but if the American society continue to be the best at what they are then it would be a very long time till anybody can stop them!

  6. There is little question that were it not for the anti-war movement, the United States would have gone to war against Iraq already. It was the strength of opposition to plans for a unilateral U.S. invasion that forced the Bush Administration to go to the UN in the first place. So far, Iraqi compliance with the United Nations weapons inspectors has made it extremely difficult for the administration to precede with its war plans.

  7. Well,no doubt that America is number one in everything but I don’t think it will last longer anymore. There are some of issues showing the United States Domination below;

    1. Washington’s reckless policies were ruinous and made the world a dangerous place to live.

    2. An almost unrestrained hyper-use of force in international relations was breeding conflict after conflict and fueling the arms race.

    3. More countries were seeking weapons of mass destruction to defend themselves against American diktats.

    4. Unilateral, illegitimate military actions have not resolved even a single problem, and on the contrary have created more human tragedies and more hotbeds of tension.

    5. We are witnessing growing trampling of fundamental principles of International law.

    6. The United States has overstepped its national borders to impose its laws and an entire legal system on other states in all spheres – social, political and humanitarian.

    7. Nobody feels safe anymore because nobody can find shelter behind the wall of international law, said Russian President, Vladimir Putin in his speech at the Annual Security Conference in Munich.

In my opinion,American Super-Domination can be stopped but hardly to say when and how. It’s all depends on how the relationship between America and other countries after the new elected United States President, Barack Obama.

  8. Ayesha, i cannot but disagree with what you are saying. Your opinion, true, but how credible? You got your information from a website; abovetopsecret.com, which is a SPONSORED anti – american website, a site that says there were no terror attacks and also that the US government killed Jimmy Hendrix. It’s a joke of a website.
The world more unsafe? Well, the world is more unsafe for Terrorists.
There’s a belief that Barack would be ‘soft’. He would be gentle, not soft. The Americans would always, always fight back if attacked. One of the ‘softest’ of American presidents, Kennedy, was actually the one who told his army to shoot the russian ships if the approach US territory. Remember, Obama has a maximum of 8 years..

  9. In 2002, as the U.S. government was preparing to attack Iraq, I sitll can remember how the US government attact iraq , it’s unbelievable and unethical actually I dont like AMERICAN but we need to study from AMERICAN we need to study about the technology and the education system . only you have the powe you can stopped AMERICAN.

  10. My friend I would like ask u one thing have you heard of a statement that “Nothing is permanent in this world”, well same thing applies to US. There are essentially three exclusive characteristics whose simultaneous development has served as the foundations of the United States’s success up until now — and they only appear in this particular combination in America. At the beginning of the 21st century, the United States is still a superpower. But it’s a superpower facing competition from beyond its borders as well as internal difficulties. Its lower and middle classes are turning out to be the losers of globalization.
First, nowhere in the world can you find such a high concentration of optimism and daring. America is the country that strives hardest for what is new — not just since yesterday (like Eastern Europeans) and not just for the last three decades (like the Chinese); rather from the very instant settlers began arriving. Unabashed curiosity seems to be hardwired into the nation’s genetic code.
Second, the United States is radically global. Its very origins — in the rebellious citizens from every country in the world who assembled on the territory that is now the United States — mark its people as true children of the world.
Third, the United States is the only nation on earth that can do business globally in its own currency. Indeed, the dollar has established itself as the world’s currency. Whoever wants to own it has to purchase it in the United States. All important decisions about the quantity of cash that circulates or the setting of interest rates are made within the nation’s borders, which guarantee a maximum degree of national independence. It’s American blood that flows through the veins of the global economy. Almost half of all business deals are closed using dollars as the currency, and two-thirds of all currency reserves are held in dollars.
But there is a flip side to the coin. First, Americans are so optimistic that they often blur the line between optimism and sophistication. Public, private and corporate debt far exceeds any previously known dimensions. Forever piously trusting in a future rosier than the present, millions of households are borrowing so much money that they end up endangering the very future they’re looking forward to. The lower and middle classes have practically given up on putting aside any savings. They’re going into the 21st century like a poverty-stricken, Third World family, living from hand to mouth without any financial reserves whatsoever.
Second, globalization is striking back. The United States has promoted the worldwide exchange of commodities like no other nation, and the result is that their local industry has begun to be eroded. Some production sectors — such as the furniture industry, consumer electronics, many automobile part suppliers, and now computer manufacturers — have left the country for good. In the recent past, free trade has primarily benefited the very rival states that are now mounting an economic offensive on the United States — and which have cut off a large slice of America’s global market share for them.
Third, the dollar doesn’t just strengthen the United States; it also makes it vulnerable. The government has pumped its currency into the world economy so vigorously that the dollar can now be brought to the point of collapse by external forces – such as those in Beijing, for example. Former US President Bill Clinton spoke of a “strategic partnership.” Current President George W. Bush would later speak of a “strategic rivalry.” They meant the same thing. There’s a form of dependence that obliges economic actors to cooperate in normal times. But when times change, there is the temptation to engage in a show of strength.

  11. Can America be Stopped?
    Yes…

    Which country can do so?
Bro, I have read so many articles of which country can possibly outdo America and almost all the websites and blog comments were pointing out that CHINA and INDIA are most likely to supersede our favorite USA…

    HOW?
The world is changing so quickly that the human mind is unable to keep up. Experts from the research department of Deutsche Bank under famous analyst Dr. Norbert Walter decided to take a look at the future. Their research is based on analysis of economic situation in 34 countries.

They have predicted that Euro Zone bankers could not imagine the world without the US dollar as the main currency and means of payment even in 2020. According to their forecasts, the world will stay unidirectional with only one superpower – the USA, GDP of which will reach $17-18 trillion by that time.

Nevertheless, experts are certain that there will be competition between US dollar and Chinese yuan in 2020. Also, they are sure that in 15 years China and India will be some of the leading nations of the world. China, for instance, will become the world assembly shop and the second superpower, followed by India.
However, the latter will have to carry out reforms more aggressively, Deutsche Bank. “Further reforms will allow India to keep its growth high at six percent every of next ten to fifteen years. If the reforms are carried out aggressively the growth of GDP may reach seven or eight percent”, Norbert Walter said at the seminar of Indian-German Chamber of Commerce.

According to O’Neill, four developing countries Brazil, Russia, India and China (so-called BRIC) will be ahead of six largest industrial countries of the world in terms of cumulative USD GDP.

The role of the BRIC economies will grow quicker in the sphere of energy: in the next 15 years they will consume more energy than the EU and the US. The growth will be slower in the world motorcar market: BRIC countries will become leaders only in 2025-2030. The share of the four countries in the world capital market will be probably not so big, ALTHOUGH IT DEPENDS ON THE POLICY OF THE COUNTRIES [1].

    MY OPINION….
Dude, I believe that America will be out performed by China one day, and is being outperformed now…Look, what happened in Chinese Olympic Games, Technology vice, bro America is no longer A TECHNOLOGY KING!! It is Denmark [2]
Okay may be America is the leader in marketing, diplomacy and military capabilities…But hey, we all aware that China is making everything and selling it to the USA. They make all the metalworking tools that you and I can buy. Are they tooling up for something? They can make machines to make machines faster than anyone else.

Intel’s co-founder Gordon Moore recognizes that China will be a challenge 20 years out, “If you look out 20 years, China is the challenge, If you look out 10, its finding new growth areas. [3]

    You see…..

  12. World 80% country depends on American. And American is that country who is controlling the whole world. I belive that America is the country who can do every thing what ever they want.
Like Earq war. When they want to attack Earq that time UN was trying to stop them. But they dont care. they did what they wanted.
American Super-Domination can not be stopped

  13. America has become a pretty discouraging place. Americans, for the most part, will never know what happened to them, because they no longer have a free and responsible press. They have Big Brother’s press. For example, on September 28, 2008, a New York Times editorial blamed the current financial crisis on “antiregulation disciples of the Reagan Revolution.”

  14. Many Emperors born and conquer many empire but no one does it for ever.Great Bretain was conqured world for long time but they had fallen down also.So today or tomorrow America will also loose their domination and present days will be the history for the Americans as like Great Britain today.

  15. Can America be Stopped! Very interesting and challenging topic. I can certainly say now that they are unstopable at the moment. However, in the future, who knows? Maybe China will be the next economic leader.

Even people in America are sick and tired of the way other countries are being punished by America and the past election showed results on President Obama taking the Presidentship. He promised to bring change and I do believe they can be stopped.

  16. Can America be stopped,,,, If so how….
Well at the current time and few years forward i dont think america can be stopped by any means. Playing face to face with America your always going to be the loser no matter what it takes.
But who really know in the future what will happen maybe be we will see another super power because you cant always stay on top.

The ways people are now using to stop America is by terrorist attacks and its slowly slowly getting at them.
